The holiday decorations and lights are put away, but the warm holiday glow that comes from giving back still shines brightly for many at Encore Senior Living.
Senior residents and staff at several Encore communities showed what it looks like to be charitable, live with purpose, and spread hope and joy during the holidays and beyond.
In Green Bay, WI, folks from The Courtyard at Bellevue partnered with The Golden House to brighten the day for families affected by domestic abuse. Together, and with the help of the greater local community, they filled 20 “Family Fun Night Boxes” to support 20 families in need.
Each decorated box contains goodies for adults and children of all ages—from games to cozy blankets to gourmet snacks—for families to enjoy quality time together.
“It was incredible to see so many people come together to fill the boxes” says The Courtyard at Bellevue’s Sales and Marketing Director Laurie Weyenberg. “These boxes will undoubtedly bring smiles to so many faces and spread cheer.”
Across the state in Sussex, WI, new and unwrapped toys over filled the space under The Courtyard at Sussex’s Christmas tree. The collection of gifts was generously donated by residents, staff, family and community members for patients at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
“Our seniors love knowing that a donated toy will brighten a sick child’s day,” says The Courtyard at Sussex Sales and Marketing Director Emily Kenton. “They truly find purpose in helping others and look forward to being of service with the next charitable opportunity that comes our way.”
Not to be outdone, Parkside Manor in Kenosha, WI, held a toy drive to brighten the holidays for Every Child’s Place daycare for children, including those with special needs.
“Charitable opportunities like this really help connect our residents and team with the larger Kenosha community,” says Parkside Manor Sales and Marketing Director Becke Connelly. “Helping others gives seniors a sense of purpose as well as a warm and fuzzy feeling inside that just feels good.”
